Many of you may remember the man known as Jerry Fellows, a good man from the early days of English-language anime fandom. The co-editor of the anime publication Space Fanzine Yamato. Sadly he has gotten in his battlship and flown off to the anime kingdom of the afterlife. He passed away this Tuesday (27th August)

Space Fanzine Yamato was first published in February 1983 as a 44-page digest publication about the anime Space Battleship Yamato and the American adaptation, Star Blazers. As one of the first English language publications to be all about an anime I hope you can see what this man meant to anime fandom.

Sadly the publication never reached volume 2 but later was developed into an online resource known as Space Webzine Yamato in 1995.

I hope you'll take a short moment to give a quiet anime prayer or solute to this man. May he rest in peace and his Yamato Cannons finally go offline.
