Falling In and Out of Anime, Totally Normal

Anime, like anything else classed as 'entertaining' is very easy to get into if it's the kind of thing you're into and just the same it's very easy to fall out of. It's also pretty normal.

I go through a lot of periods of being bored because everything that I have to do I have done to death. Video games? Yeah I don't feel like it. Reading? Don't feel like it. Anime? I don't feel like it.

I think the main reason a lot of people think this is strange is because all three of those things have such a large amount of content. There are millions if not billions of books out there and the same can be said for both anime and video games. So how can you be bored of all video games and all anime? It just seems whacky doesn't it? Well no, not really.

The reason it isn't weird is because at the bottom of it, reading a book, playing a video game or watching an anime is just like reading any other book, playing any other video game or watching any other anime. You might have a slightly different mental experience but you're still going through the same basic thought processes.

Video games - My hands still clickity clack on the mouse and keyboard or controller. Some games are more relaxing or intense than others but it still takes the same mindset to at least start playing any video game.

Reading - Oh come on, I am just sat their moving my eyes. Yes the words are different and yes the words have completely different meanings in each book but I still, once again, have to be in the same 'mood' to read regardless of what book I will read.

Anime - It's just the same, my eyes stare at the screen and move around depending on who's talking or where the action is. Whether I want to watch a heram or a mecha I still have to be in the mood for anime as a whole.

I think my best example of why this is both normal and something that needs no worry is what happens between me and a video game called Minecraft. I play minecraft obsessively. I love it to bits and spend hours and hours playing it. Then I get completely bored and narkt off with it and stop playing for a few months and guess what happens after those few months. I start playing again. Soap, Rinse, Repeat. Replace the words Minecraft and playing with anime and watching respectively and then you'll likely have what happens to you with anime.

So if your friend ever says s/he "Doesn't feel like watching any anime." and s/he has been saying something like that for the past few weeks, it doesn't mean they've given up on anime. Nor does it mean they need you to find them that perfect anime for them to get into. It just means they don't feel like it right now. You both likely have one other interest in common so focus on that, you don't need to stop talking to them and every other week ask them if they're into anime again yet because A) That will nark them off and B) It just shows them that you don't care about them as a person, just as someone to talk about the latest episode of -place recent anime here-.

You might feel like it's only you going through something like this but in the end, you're pretty normal. Even if you pride yourself on being abnormal, so does everyone else, even just a little bit.
