What was it and what did you think?

Well the last one I saw was The Sky Crawlers. It stunk! It was super boring and the plot moved soooo slowly. The plot synopsis on Netflix told me more than the entire movie did! And they added a lot of CGI stuff which I'm not a fan of. It's by the same dude that made Ghost in the Shell (I think) and I didn't like that very much either... But the animation itself was pretty cool. Maybe it's just that any eyes that are that light blue look cool, but other than that I think the animation as a whole was very well done. It just needed a better story line.

last film i watched was summers wars or as i like to call it Digimon our war game. it was good but i couldn't help after like the last 20 mins of it just to reference or compare to Digimon. it was good i really enjoyed it, i think that's because it was basically the Digimon film. and yes i know that this was made by the same people who did the Digimon film.

Chinatown.

Loved every minute of it, up to the ending, at which point I wanted to throw something at the screen.

Heheh, why's that Brent?

I guess I'm really interested in whether that's a good throw something at the screen or an upset one.

"Forget it [Brent]. It's Chinatown"

I hate that ending passionately.

I saw Drive a few days ago after hearing a lot of good word of mouth and learning that it was from the same director who did the excellent Bronson a few years back. I was not disappointed; it was an excellent slow-burning crime-drama/thriller with some really fantastic cinematography, good sound design, and a great 80's synth-influenced soundtrack. Really felt similar to character-driven dramas from the 70's like Taxi Driver. Very different, very good - best movie of the year, so far.

As far as anime movies, I saw the Revolutionary Girl Utena movie/re-telling a few weeks back and enjoyed it a lot more than I did the series. My biggest complaint from the show was Anthy being a really unlikable, personality-less character and a ton of fluff in the plot. The movie completely fixed both of those, and it was just an awesome, surreal ride the entire time.

Ooh! Thank you for saying that about the Utena movie. I found the series fascinating, but difficult to watch for the reasons you mentioned (plus, Chu-Chu annoyed me immensely). I'm much more inclined to watch the movie now.

i recently watched and bought spirited away for the second time. I noticed that the series really picked up at the second half ( I still really enjoyed it as much as the first time)
